Krone introduces a new feature on the front mower of the Big M self-propelled, high-performance mower. The new auto side-shift on BiG M is a side-shifting mechanism on the front mower that adjusts its positioning based on the gradient of the slope that it is mowing on. The benefit of this is avoiding curved lines and striping in sloping and undulating fields.
To implement the new auto side-shift, the Big M uses a frame-mounted angle sensor in addition to a steering angle sensor on the rear axle. The angle sensor measures real-time data on the current conditions, such as the slope gradient or curved lines. The system calculates the steering angle based off the slope gradient and then automatically shifts the front mower to the side without requiring any input from the operator. At the same time, the angle sensor also ensures that the drive power is distributed uniformly to all four wheels, improving the traction of the Big M.
The auto side-shifting boosts productivity and efficiency because it increases mowing speeds on slopes. The auto function removes the need for the operators to manually adjust the front mower when driving on hills or slopes. This results in easing operator strain and increasing mowing outputs.
