Krone Grass Event

Farmhand

Farmhand Ltd, the Irish importer for Krone grass machinery, held a training event and machinery demonstration day for their dealer network at Lyons Estate, Kildare in May. This was attended by 110 Krone Main dealer staff, from parts, service and sales. The object being that all Krone dealer staff will have the knowledge and understanding to best support their customers; be it in the workshop or advising on machine set up and spare parts for mowers, tedders, rakes, wagons and round balers.

All Krone mowers are known for their excellent quality as well as the SafeCut impact protection system which protects your discs and driveline with a 20 cent roll pin. The engineering that is dedicated to the larger mowers is replicated in the smaller mowers, all machines produced by Krone have the same technology and therefore benefits. These include the Krone developed satellite drive, massive spur gears rotating at reduced speeds, these distribute power evenly all the way to the very last disc and reduce heat. All Krone mowers are driven from the rear of the bed, rather than through the first hat, this avoids grass wrapping around the mower, and the complete mower range are shaft driven throughout the full range, always maximising the mower’s performance with consistent power.

New for 2021 Krone presented the Vendro Tedder. The landmark feature of these new tedders is their close attachment to the tractor which shifts more weight to the front axle and reduces transport length and lift requirement. All Krone Vendro tedders come with the Krone Octolink clutch providing maintenance free constant power transmission to each rotor. Unique to Krone, the rotors overlap generously so the OptiTurn tines can lift the crop cleanly and spread it uniformly at an optimum width for fast wilts. This technology boosts your productivity not only in the field but also in the milking parlour. Krone OptiTurn tines, unlike any other tines on the market, have a gentle curve in the tine which looks like the letter C. This curve allows for a greater throw of grass while evenly spreading any lumps and not dragging in soil and other contamination. Headland border management is standard on all Vendors with a hydraulic control as an option.

Krone rakes are built to last the pace of Irish farmers and contractors. With unique features across the range, they rake clean every time without contaminating the forage. A DuraMax cast cam track with a 3 year warranty provides precision guidance for the tines. The small track diameter in combination with massive cams make for quiet running, reduces wear and leads to well-shaped swaths. Best of all, the DuraMax cam track is completely maintenance free. The patented Krone Lift Tines, kinked in two positions, are standard on all Krone rakes, give a better performance because of the steep angle in heavy crops. As a result the machine can work faster and still deliver uniform swaths. Made from strong tubular steel the Krone tine arms are easy to remove, simply undo two bolts and remove the entire arm complete with the bearing and roller. Also unique to Krone is the Jet Effect, ensuring the tines will not dig into the ground when the rotors lower and lift. Emulating the touch-down and take-off of an airplane, the leading rotors lift off first and the rear rotors follow and vice-versa when lowering into work, an intelligent system to protect the swath and avoid crop contamination.

The range of Krone forage wagons offer plenty of technical features that offer added value to the farmer or contractor.  With fewer moving parts the cam-less pick-up provides exceptionally quiet running and reduced wear, resulting in reduced maintenance requirements and reduced service costs, while still operating at a 30% higher speed. Hydraulic compensation suspension provides the option for superior control even at high speeds on tight, uneven roads with shock-load cushioning running gear. The knife bank pulls out and swings alongside the wagon for ease of inspection, sharpening and changing blades. Saves time … and your fingers! And all Krone wagons come with ISOBUS controls standard.

Krone round balers offer fixed and variable baling chambers as well as baler wrapper combinations. The Comprima 155Plus on show at the Krone Grass Event offers the following features. The Comprima baler is available with a choice of 3 systems; fixed chamber for ease of use producing 1.25m diameter bales. Semi-variable for maximum flexibility; these machines combine the advantages of fixed and variable bale chambers, producing 1.25m-1.50m diameter bales; operators simply set the required diameter in 5cm increments on an easy-to-use system. There is also a fully variable option for baling from 1m – 2.05m. The fully variable version is also available as a combination bale wrapper. The Comprima uses a slat and belt conveyor system, cam-less EasyFlow pick-up with w-lined tines.
